Country-led Evaluation: Burkina Faso
Evaluation of Burkina Faso's national COVID-19 pandemic crisis response plan |
|
In June 2020, the Government of Burkina Faso launched its National Response Plan to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative emphasised the importance of effective coordination and operational management to navigate through the crisis effectively. The plan aimed to maintain a delicate balance between adhering to Burkina Faso's national strategic priorities, despite the country's ongoing challenges, and formulating strategies for recovery in the post-crisis period. It targeted specific actions against COVID-19 to alleviate its negative impacts on socio-economic aspects, focusing on households, vulnerable groups, the education sector, and small businesses.
The evaluation will delve into how the government's efforts to combat the pandemic and mitigate its socio-economic repercussions have aligned with international development and humanitarian aid. This assessment will cover the period from 1 January 2020, to 1 December 2022, aiming to identify lessons and best practices to enhance future co-operation and crisis readiness among various stakeholders, including governments, community organisations, development agencies, and humanitarian entities. This effort is part of a broader international strategy under the COVID-19 Global Evaluation Coalition, striving to improve global pandemic response strategies. |

PartnersThe evaluation is managed under the auspices of Burkina Faso's General Directorate of Economy and Planning, part of the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Foresight, and receives support from CLEAR-Francophone, GEI, and the OECD. The NAZAN evaluation team is responsible for conducting the evaluation. In addition, there is a steering group made up of diverse coalition members with the necessary expertise. This group oversees and guides the evaluation process, helping to define its scope and design. They also play a crucial role in encouraging the adoption of the evaluation's findings and in ensuring that recommendations are acted upon within their respective institutions and networks.
